Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large yellow onions (about 600g)
  • 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry (about 250g), thawed
  • 1 cup heavy cream (240ml)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup grated Gruyere or Emmental cheese (100g)
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté sliced onions until translucent, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.
  4. Stir the cooked onions into the cream mixture with grated cheese until well combined.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and fit it into a pie dish without stretching.
