Description

Cajun Potato Soup is a warm, hearty dish that brings the vibrant flavors of Louisiana right to your kitchen. This creamy, comforting soup combines tender potatoes with zesty Cajun seasoning, garlic, and rich cream, creating an inviting aroma that will make your mouth water. Perfect for chilly nights, this recipe is not only easy to prepare but also versatile enough for family dinners or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium Yukon Gold potatoes, diced (about 600g)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped (about 150g)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth (960ml)
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup heavy cream (240ml)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by washing and peeling the potatoes; dice them into bite-sized cubes. Chop the onion and mince the garlic.
  2. In a large pot over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and Cajun seasoning; cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add diced potatoes and chicken broth; bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  5. Blend the soup with an immersion blender until you reach your desired consistency—smooth or chunky.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and adjust seasoning as needed. Let simmer for a few more minutes before serving hot, topped with chopped green onions.
