  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, salt, and baking powder. Stir in melted butter until crumbly.
  3. Press two-thirds of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine pitted cherries with brown sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Spread over the crust.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture on top of the cherries.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.
