  • 2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice sweet potatoes into 1/8-inch thick rounds.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant (about 2 minutes).
  4. In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sweet potato slices. Pour half of the cream mixture over them, then sprinkle half of the cheese blend.
  6. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil for the last 15 minutes to allow topping to brown.
  8. Serve warm alongside turkey or ham.
