  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cups fresh Granny Smith apples (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 cup milk (warm)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)

Instructions

  1. Warm milk until lukewarm. In a small bowl, mix yeast and sugar with warm milk; let sit until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add melted butter and yeast mixture; knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. For the filling, mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Peel and chop apples; toss with lemon juice.
  5. Roll out dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over it; sprinkle brown sugar-cinnamon mixture and chopped apples evenly.
  6. Roll tightly into a log shape and slice into equal pieces.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place rolls in a greased baking pan with space between each; cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle cream cheese icing over warm rolls before serving.
